It’s been an age-old problem in the construction industry, but finally electricians and plasterers can reconcile their differences with a new device from a British inventor.
Vex Box is a polystyrene injection moulded template that fits around the inside frame of an electrical back box. Once installed by a qualified electrician, the device extends from the base of the electrical back box to meet the plasterboard in front, giving the plasterer a neat edge to work up to.
The Vex Box allows plasterers to achieve a tidy and superior finish around the box edge, keeping the open box free of plaster and making life easier for the electrician.
The device was the brainchild of Paul Coy, who collaborated with leading invention development company Innovate Product Design to develop and bring it to market.
Innovate MD Alastair Swanwick said: “We see new ideas all the time but this really stood out. It didn’t take us long to recognise the huge potential of this clever, yet brilliantly simple idea.”
Inventor Paul, who had previously worked in the building industry himself, said: “There is no other device that enables plasterers to work as easily around the back box.”
Ideal for both new builds and refurbishments, The Vex Box has already been well received across the building industry and was a finalist in the 2016 Electrical Times Awards.
The product is currently only being sold online while wholesalers are approached. For more information, visit www.vexbox.com or call 020 7354 5640.
