The 2025 President’s Cup, sponsored by Luceco Group, was notable for great golf, brilliant banter and even a hole in one by SELECT Member Terry Stewart as the East of Scotland team reclaimed the association’s famous silver trophy in the sunshine at Dunblane

Member Terry Stewart was the toast of the fairways at this year’s President’s Cup as he hit a stunning hole in one in our annual golf competition.

The West of Scotland team member earned himself a top-of-the-range industrial tester after acing the 11th hole in this year’s event, sponsored by Associate Member Luceco Group.

And Terry, who works for Kilmarnock-based MIE Electrical Services, followed it up a few holes later by claiming the nearest the pin prize on the 14th at Dunblane New Golf Club.

The double triumph was among the many highlights of the 2025 contest, which saw the East of Scotland team lift the prestigious trophy after a day of fierce but friendly competition.

Our largest-ever field gathered on the first tee in Perthshire on Monday 28 July as 64 golfers from across Scotland battled it out for glory.

Split into the traditional East and West teams, the Stableford competition saw Member firms joined by guests and sponsors as they competed across 18 holes.

After an extremely narrow contest, the East team triumphed by 242 points to 238, with vice captain Andrew Macdonald collecting the trophy from SELECT President Mike Stark after high tea in the clubhouse.

Standing in for team captain Grant Stewart, the Member from Macdal Electrical Services in Blairgowrie also received a bottle of malt to mark the victory, with the three best performers on each team also taking home various prizes.

Members also scooped goodies for the longest drive and nearest the pin courtesy of sponsors Electrium and Scolmore, plus as always there was a special endeavour award for the highest round of the day for both Members and guests.

And Terry received a top-of-the range IMT 100 industrial multi-tester worth £2,000 from Megger Territory Sales Manager Alastair Blyth to celebrate his first-ever hole in one.

After presenting the prizes, Mike said: “The 2025 President’s Cup was a fitting way to mark our 125th anniversary and was an excellent event that was played in exactly the right spirit.

“I’d like to thank Luceco Group for sponsoring the day and look forward to welcoming friends and colleagues back to the fairways in 2026.”
