2016 SELECT Awards open for entries

Member firms interested in competing for the premier industry prizes in Scotland will be able to lodge their applications from the beginning of next month

By popular demand this year’s annual SELECT Awards will be open for entries on May 1st.

To avoid clashing with the summer holiday season we have decided to begin the process earlier in the year, allowing Member firms the time to apply for the awards.

And this year we have added an additional category to the prize list – Best Visual Promotion.

This is to encourage, in particular, the smartphone generation of young electricians who have creatively used either the SELECT branding, or their own company livery on vehicles, marketing materials (on or offline) or signage.

Alan Wilson, Head of Membership & Communications, SELECT, said: “We felt that the existing categories needed a bit of a revamp for this year’s Awards. After the success of last year’s 10th anniversary, we wanted to make some kind of change to let the industry know that we will not be resting on our laurels. The Best Visual Promotion category will hopefully encourage lots of Members to send in pictures from their smartphones; it will be quick and easy to do and will showcase a lot of the creative ideas from our Members.”

The closing date for entries will be June 30, and following a judging process on July 26 the shortlisted nominees will be contacted to organise a site visit.

The following awards are announced on the night but are not open to nomination: Apprentice of the Year, Electrical Contractor of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award
